Dr. Lorraine M. Wright, RN, PhD

Professor Emeritus of Nursing, University of Calgary

Lorraine M. Wright is an international lecturer, author, nurse, and marriage and family therapist. She is also a Professor Emeritus of Nursing, University of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Dr. Wright's clinical and research interests include spirituality and suffering, family interventions, and illness beliefs of families and health professionals.

Dr. Wright is the author of 7 books: Spirituality, Suffering, and Illness: Ideas for Healing (2005); and co-author of Nurses and Families: A Guide to Family Assessment and Intervention (4th ed) (2005) and Beliefs: The Heart of Healing in Families and Illness (1996); and co-editor of The Cutting Edge of Family Nursing (1990) and the three-volume Family Nursing Series: Families and Life Threatening Illness, Families and Chronic Illness, and Families and Psychosocial Problems (1987). Dr. Wright has also co-produced 5 educational programs in the "How to Family Nursing Video/DVD Series" (http://www.familynursingresources.com)

Dr. Wright has presented at over 300 national and international spirituality, family health, family therapy, and family nursing workshops and conferences. She has 30 years of direct clinical experience working with families suffering with serious physical and/or mental illness.

Dr. Wright serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Family Nursing and Families, Systems, and Health. She is also a member of the Canadian Nurses Association and a Clinical Member, Approved Supervisor, and Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
