Dr. Marco Bonollo, MBBS (Hons) FRACPDr Marco Bonollo graduated from Melbourne's Monash University with Honours in 1990. He completed his basic physician training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Middlesex Hospital, London. Subsequently, he undertook advanced training in renal medicine under Prof. Gavin Becker at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Prof. Napier Thomson at The Alfred gaining his FRACP in 1999. He is a full-time General Physician in the Professorial General Medical Unit (PGMU), Renal Physician, and Head of the Disease Management Unit (DMU) at Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital. In 2005, the DMU has been nominated for the Victorian Public Healthcare Awards in the categories of “Innovation in Models of Care” and “Outstanding Team achievement”. He is Secretary of The Alfred Senior Medical Staff. In addition to Disease Management, his clinical interests are in the prevention & management of acute renal failure, and, ortho-geriatric medicine. In 2004, he helped found the Australian Disease Management Association (ADMA) and is currently the Chair of its Advisory Committee. His efforts in promoting disease management have been recognized by the Disease Management Association of America (DMAA) with a “Pioneer” award. His interest in medical education was inspired by his mentor, the late Prof. E. F. Glasgow. As Lecturer in Medicine he is responsible for undergraduate clinical medicine teaching at Monash University Medical School, Alfred Hospital. In 2003, he was appointed as an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
