Dr. Marilee Donovan, RN, PhD, CNSAfter a career including practice as an oncology nurse specialist, faculty in three colleges of nursing, and a hospital administrator, Dr, Donovan joined Kaiser Permanente in 1994. Through all of these roles, she has maintained a clinical practice and research interest in improving pain management. In her current position at he Kaiser Permanente Northwest Pain Management Clinic, Portland, OR, as Clinical Nurse Specialist / Program Director Pain Management / Supervisor, has Dr. Donovan responsible for the development and operation of treatment model and implementation of multidisciplinary pain management program. This program includes pain management groups, multidisciplinary consultation and therapy and limited case management. The Pain Program has been shown to have positive outcomes for the patient and provider and also reduce heath care costs. In 2002 it was awarded the Vohs Award, Kaiser Permanente Award for Quality. In addition to being a reviewer for several publications, Dr. Donovan’s current area of research includes dual diagnoses of chronic pain and addictive disease, preventing the development of chronic pain and outcomes of pain management. |
